Fridge/freezer notifications

  • How can it be detected that the fridge/freezer door has been left open?

    An open door is detected when the electricity consumption of the fridge/freezer is higher than normal during 75 minutes. This is based on the individual profile which is created based on the historic consumption.

  • How can the unusual behaviour of my fridge/freezer be detected?

    An individual profile is built based on the consumption of you fridge/freezer. You will be sent an electronic notification when changes are detected to this personal profile.

  • When and how will I be notified if my fridge door has been left open?

    You will receive an electronic notification 75 minutes after the initial registering of unusual consumption behaviour.

Solar panel monitor

  • How can unusually low energy production be detected?

    A self-learning model will calculate the minimum expected production provided sufficient data has been collected from your solar panels. You will receive a notification as soon as the production of the past 7 days deviates from this minimum expected level.

  • How long does it take before changes in the energy production of my solar panels are detected?

    The notification mechanism will take effect three months after activating your solar panels on the fifthplay platform.

  • When and how will I be notified in case of a solar panel failure?

    If your solar panels fail, you will receive an electronic notification the following day. The notifications sent are meant to inform you about the electricity production of the previous day.

  • Which changes to the energy production of my solar panels can be detected?

    No data is received with regards to the production of your solar panels.
    At the moment, your solar panels are not producing energy.
    Your solar panels are producing less energy than expected.

Water leak detection

  • Do I need to provide additional information about my consumption before activating the water leak detection?

    No, the detection of water leaks is completely automated and continuous. You do not need to provide any additional information.

  • How can a water leak be detected?

    In order to detect water leaks, the usual level of water consumption is measured and an individual consumption profile is built. These data are continuously analysed by means of data intelligence techniques in order to detect deviations from this profile. When the water consumption is unexpectedly high or continuous, the user will be informed via a text message or e-mail push notification.

  • How can continuous water consumption be detected?

    Water leak detection will take effect one day after activating the water meter on the fifthplay platform. In the first instance, default values are used to identify any continuous unusual consumption (6 hours). After one month, sufficient data will have been gathered in order to deviate from these default settings and build a personal profile. An electronic notification will be sent when changes are detected to this personal profile.

  • How can excessive water consumption be detected?

    Water leak detection will take effect one day after activating the water meter on the fifthplay platform. In the first instance, default values are used to identify unusually high consumption (105 litres every 15 minutes). After one month, sufficient data will have been gathered in order to deviate from these default settings and build a personal profile. An electronic notification will be sent when changes are detected to this personal profile.

  • How long does it take before changes in my water consumption are detected?

    Water leak detection will take effect one day after registering your water meter on the fifthplay platform. In the first instance, the default settings are used to identify leaks. After one month, sufficient data will have been gathered in order to detect water leaks which give a better reflection of your personal consumption.

  • What type of water leaks can be detected?

    Different types of water loss can be detected by means of the water leak detection method:

    • Leak – e.g. a leaking / dripping tap, a running toilet
    • Running tap – e.g. a tap from a bath or garden hose which has not been turned off
    • A cracked water pipe – e.g. frost causing the water pipes to burst

    The size of the water leak that can be detected depends upon the granularity of the water meter. Most water meters have a granularity of 0,5 litre and are therefore unable to detect minuscule water leaks (of less than 0,5 litre every 15 minutes).

  • When and how will I be notified in case of a water leak?

    Water leak detection will take effect one day after activating the water meter on the fifthplay platform.
    You will be notified of a water leak on average within 6 hours – starting from the initial registration of unusual consumption. A push notification will inform you in good time via text message or e-mail.

  • How can I add additional Smart Plugs to my fifthplay Home account?

    The manual in the downloads section will explain how you can add an additional Smart Plug to your fifthplay Home account.

  • I would rather not install the fifthplay cube myself. What should I do?

    A fifthplay installer can come to you for € 124 (incl. VAT) per installation.
    Please contact our Customer Services department to make an appointment.

Order and returns

  • Do I need to pay additional subscription fees to be able to use the fifthplay platform?

    No, all costs are included in the price.

  • Does it come with a warranty?

    The fifthplay cube and extensions come with a 2-year warranty. In case of a fault with the system, we will replace the device free of charge during that period.

  • In which countries is the fifthplay cube available?

    It is currently only available in Belgium.

  • Where can I order the fifthplay cube?

    Fifthplay cube starter kits and extensions can only be ordered online via www.shop.fifthplay.com or at www.bol.com.

The app

  • Can I install the fifthplay app on more than one device?

    Yes, you can use the app on several phones and tablets.

  • Can I install the fifthplay app on multiple devices?

    Yes, you can install and use the app on multiple smartphones and tablets.

  • Can I use the app without an internet connection?

    No, you need an active internet connection to access the most up to date information.

  • How do I change the e-mail address for my account?

    You cannot change the e-mail address of your fifthplay home account.

  • I have forgotten the password for my account. What should I do?

    You can reset your password by clicking ‘forgot password’ on the Login Page.

  • On which mobile devices can I install the fifthplay home app?

    iPhone and iPad: Apple IOS 6.0 and higher.
    Android smartphones and tablets: Android 4.1 and higher.
    Currently, fifthplay home is not available for Windows Phone.

The Gateway

  • Can I turn my gateway’s sound off?

    Yes, you can turn the sound off. To do this, please follow the steps below:

    • Open the internet browser on your computer and enter the following address so your gateway can connect with the internet modem or router

  • The gateway’s LED lamp can have different colours. Each colour has a specific meaning.

    No, the CO-sensor stays active once it is connected to your fifthplay Home Account.

  • Can the DIN Rail Module from 63A also be used with a three-phase connection?

    No, a DIN Rail Module from 63A can only be used with a single-phase connection. We are hoping to be able to offer a solution for a three-phase connection in the near future.

  • How accurate is the DIN Rail Module?

    DIN Rail Modules are extremely accurate. The maximum deviation is 2 to 3%

  • How can I add additional DIN Rail Modules to my fifthplay Home account?

  • How do I connect a DIN Rail Module in my electrical cabinet?

    You can find the wiring diagrams of our DIN Rail Modules in the downloads section.

  • How many DIN Rail Modules can I connect to my gateway?

    You can connect up to 50 modules to your gateway.

  • How often is the electricity consumption of my devices measured?

    The electricity consumption (Wh) is measured every 15 minutes.

  • How often is the power consumption of my devices measured?

    The power consumption of your devices (W) is measured in real time

  • Is it possible to use the DIN Rail Modules without a gateway?

    No, you always need a gateway in order to use the DIN Rail Modules.

  • What is the maximum distance between a DIN Rail Module and the gateway?

    Indoors, you can cover a distance of 15 meters. Please note: The minimum distance between a DIN Rail Module and the gateway is 1 meters.

  • What is the purpose of the button on the DIN Rail Module?

    The button allows you to switch the DIN Rail Module on or off.
    Hold down the button for at least 3 seconds to reset the DIN RAIL Module.
    This application is only available with the DIN Rail Module for 16A.

  • What is the purpose of the light on the DIN Rail Module?

  • Will my meter readings be lost when the connection is lost between my gateway and my DIN Rail Module?

    The meter readings are saved for 25 hours locally and transmitted as soon as the gateway reconnects. In other words, your meter readings will not get lost.

  • Which devices can I connect to the Smart Plugs?

    In theory, you can connect and monitor any electrical device with the Smart Plug. It is, however, limited to a maximum usage of 3600W (220V +/-10% AV / 16A).
    Obviously it is not recommended to connect certain devices, such as a fridge or washing machine. Go to ‘Settings’ > ‘Devices’ to indicate for each Smart Plug whether it is ‘controllable’.

    The Smart Plugs communicate with the gateway via wireless technology: RF, 868MHz.

Troubleshooting

  • I cannot find my devices on my fifthplay home account

    Check whether your gateway is connected to the internet. You can do this by checking the colour of the LED on the gateway:

    Green LED on OK (connected and functions properly).
    Yellow LED on The gateway is not connected to the fifthplay servers. Please contact the Customer Service Department.
    Yellow, flashing LED There is no internet connection. Please contact your internet service provider. Depending on your internet provider, repairing the connection can take up to an hour.

     

    Check whether the Ethernet cable is connected correctly between the WAN port and the router/modem. Restart the gateway if need be and check if the LED then turns green. You can restart by unplugging the power adaptor from the gateway and plugging it back in again after a few seconds.

    Check whether the internet connection is working correctly: open a web page on your computer to establish whether there is a problem with the internet connection or not. Please contact your internet provider if there is no connection.

  • The fifthplay home app indicates there is no connection with my fifthplay device(s). What should I do?

    Please contact the Customer Service Department.

  • The LED on my gateway flashes yellow. What should I do?
